Dream

January 20, 2011

When we’re born, we’re all given a Dream. This Dream contains the hopes and aspirations of our lives. Where will we end up? What will we do? These are all contained in our Dream. Our Dreams live not just within our hearts, but within our consciousness, as a part of our very beings.

As with anything though, Dreams are given a life-span. Sometimes Dreams only last as long as a few years. Ask a four year old what they want to be when they grow up, what they want to do, and you may hear one thing. Ask that same four year old ten years later, and there’s a good chance their answer will change.

Other times though, the Dream will emerge young, and stay with you for years and years. Dreams are dichotomous Dreams are fragile, yet they manage to stick around. They can be misleading, but they can also lead you to your true destiny. Dreams can prop you up in your hour of need, and they can crush you time and time again when they don’t come to fruition.

The sidewalks and gutters are littered with shattered Dreams. Most in their lives do not live out their Dream. Life does not usually give you the chance to you live your Dream. As we get older, the realization that our Dream may not come to fruition starts to push the Dream aside a bit. The question then becomes can you find balance between your Dream and Reality.

Reality is unforgiving. Reality is harsh, and Reality pulls no punches. When Reality and Dream clash, the result is unpredictable at best. Reality does, however, very infrequently match up with Dream and the result is a bit of a Fairy Tale. For most of us though, the Dream and Reality never agree…they wrestle each other.

We’re all faced with a choice at some point. The choice is whether to put Dream out of its miser and lay it to rest, or to join the fight between Dream and Reality, and at the very least, reinforce Dream’s toe-hold in your life. Everyone makes this decision for themselves.

So…the question is, what’s the status of your Dream? Have you chosen a side? Or are you among the very fortunate few who have a fully compatible Dream and Reality?
