Words

April 15, 2011

I kind of like the word “pillow.” I mean, that is to say I fucking love it. It sounds like something you’d eat more than something you sleep on. It’s also just a letter or two away from being a handy garden implement. How many words do you know that are so versatile? I’ll tell you how many: three. There’s three words as versatile as “pillow.”

If I had to give up one word in the English language, it’d probably the word “crest.” Why? Well, for starters it sounds way too much like the word “quest” which is an awesome word. So I’m always suspicious of “crest.” Why is it trying so goddamned hard to be “quest?” What is it about itself that “crest” just can’t hang with? My guess is that “crest” is probably an evil socialist who’s also racist and smells like shit.

Know what word I’m ambivalent to? “Ambivelance.” I just don’t care one way or the other. It doesn’t incite any feelings in my other than “Meh” or “Oh, okay bro.” I wouldn’t say I’m apathetic, but I’m just so damned ambivalent to it.
